A Beautiful Pregnancy

Last week we had a client call us to let us know that she was expecting her second child and that, "its a girl!" She then proceeded to tell us that she should have called earlier and that she needed to come in immediately. Her due date was in 2 weeks! Wow! We were so excited about the whole session and we had photographed her first pregnancy. We got her in "immediately" and had such a fun time. This was one of our favorites from the session and I know she is going to enjoy her portraits so much! Can't wait to see "little Melissa" after she is born.

Restoring Old Photograhs

January has been a huge month for restoring old photographs because during the holidays families get together to share and reminisce about their family heritage. We absolutely love getting these unique projects coming through our door. Each picture has so much history and to be able to take a stained, cracked, and peeling image and transform it to "almost brand new" means the world to the clients bringing them in. Give us a call if you have come across a damaged "treasure" and let us see if we can bring it back to life!

A Special Portrait

Crank

This couple wanted something special for themselves and for their children.  So we took them outside and captured them in a simple setting.  I just love how natural and comfortable both appear in this pose.

Heather and Heidi

Eads

These sisters are so awesome!!!  Both are going through nursing school and will be graduating this year.  I know they are so excited about it!  Even though they are twins, they are completely different in personality but share a lot in their likes and dislikes.  These are just a few of the ones that were their favorites.

Relationship's, cold weather, and a growing beard.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!  I put together a quick video talking about building relationships with our clients and why I use Facebook and Twitter to help with that.  I will also explain why I have a beard, enjoy and looking forward to connecting with you.

Phillip's Christmas and New Year!

Phillip

I can’t believe it is already 2010!  It was so great to be able to spend some good, quality time with our families during the holidays.  Phillip loved every minute of Christmas.  Don’t know for sure if he knew what was happening but he did know that when the presents came out that something great was getting ready to appear.  What was funny to me, he really seemed to enjoy watching other people open their presents then he would take their wrapping paper and boxes and play with them (typical, I know).

For New Years, we just hung out at the house, watched some movies, and had yummy fondue.  Phillip got a kick out of our “Fondue Night” because we ate dinner in the floor of our living room.

Well, that is just a tidbit of what happened at our home during the holidays.  Hope you and your family was able to build some memories with each other and I can’t wait to see what 2010 has in store for us all!

Something that we are going to do on our blog is post photography tips for all the people that got new cameras for Christmas and also those who would like to learn a little more about photography.
Hope you enjoy and as always send me a message if I can help in anyway.  www.philhyman.com

The Rule of Thirds

The rule of thirds is a rule of thumb in visual arts such as painting, photography, and design The rule states that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections.  When using this technique and aligning a subject with these points creates more tension, energy and interest in the composition than simply centering the subject would.
